the last few days have garnered some heat. which is good considering how many pans have been in the fire over the past few months and years. after the launch of a nice ad campaign including a billboard that brought the biggest breasts to the Sunset Strip since Charlie's Angels, Big Love was nominated for some golden globes (congrats to Bill and Chloë) and we even made a few hype lists including AFI's and one long one twice. Chloë will be in a bar fight against the three Jane's (one which VM also cut into contention) and Bill is up against the same dudes as last time. Melanie got herself a WGA nom for our episode too. Not to be sidelined, Hung also pulled down a pair of globe scores and its own WGA nom.

on test: Lake Race Shoes

cycling shoes online is testing shoes (actually we always have been.) but today a pair of Lake CX401's are on tap. Chris Hutchens at Lake sent a pair and they're available online or from any Veltec dealer. but lately too many pans in the fire have caused a slight setback in my outdoor lifestyle. the review is coming, the shoes are on test. the website is in a holding pattern though, Lake's investment is going to pay them dividends. if it keeps going like this I'll have to pass them on to the pro's. but CSO will be man up again because we Tweet too.

here's the short and skinny. the CX401's are a dream. no heel lift when sprinting, truly fitting like a glove and fun to customize in your own home oven. amazing feel and super easy to get on and off with the Boa Lace. they are stiff but soft in the right places and when you push go on the climbs they give you some gas. seriously. but I would expect as much from a shoe going for north of four hundred dollars. gotta love the unique black style, but they rock in white too.

Dr. Christopher Thompson was convicted by a jury in a Los Angeles Superior Court on all seven counts including assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving causing specified bodily injury and battery with serious bodily injury, following his road rage on July 4, 2008 when he nearly killed two cyclists in Mandeville Canyon near Santa Monica.

In 1977, Wesley Paul, a child from Columbia, MO became the youngest person ever to complete the New York City Marathon with an incredible time of 3:00:37. In the early years of the race several children competed, but the institution of a mandatory minimum age of 16 in 1981 (later bumped up to 18) changed that.
